Dr Luke Inman
Sports Medicine Registrar
Dr Luke Inman is a former professional rugby union player and a full time Sports and Exercise Medicine Doctor who currently practices at South Sydney Sports Medicine Centre, Kensington, treating patients with a variety of sports related injuries.
Inman has been a qualified doctor since finishing his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree at the University of Sydney in 2006. He also holds a Bachelor of Medical Science Degree with Honours in Muscle Fatigue and a Post graduate Diploma in Sports Medicine, completed with Distinction in 2011. He is a Registrar of the Australasian College of Sports Physicians.
Dr Inman is the team doctor for the Australian Rugby Union men’s and women’s Seven-a-side teams and the part-time team doctor for the NSW Waratahs Super Rugby team and Sydney Swans reserve grade.
Dr Inman also assists the prominent orthopaedic foot and ankle surgeon.
He has covered a plethora of sports in addition to Rugby Union and AFL such as Rugby League, Tennis, Athletics, Muay-Thai kick boxing and Cirque Du Soleil, ‘Saltimbanco’ performers.
Dr Inman has a unique background. As a rugby player he represented Australia in seven aside rugby in 21 tournaments around the world between 1999 and 2008, and captained his country in six of those competitions. A highlight for Dr Inman was playing for Australia in the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne in 2006.
As a full time professional player between 2000 and 2002 Dr Inman earned 20 caps for the NSW Waratahs in the Super 12 (Tahs Top Try Scorer in 2001). He was rewarded with selection in the Australia A side to play the British Lions in 2001 before making the decision to follow his passion and study medicine full time.
Throughout Dr Inman’s two degrees he was a 1st XV Player for Sydney University for ten seasons (over 100 first grade caps), winning the Premiership three times as well as being awarded a prestigious University Blue and representing Australian Universities 1st XV.
