For all patients, MRI scan referrals from Sports Physicians are now eligible for a rebate from Medicare when performed at a rebatable MRI machine. Not all MRI machines are rebatable under the Federal Health regulations and unfortunately GP and Physiotherapist MRI referrals are not eligible for a rebate at these specific machines.

Orthopaedic Surgeon - Foot & Ankle
He is a member of the Australian Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He has presented at national and international conferences and he has published in both national and international journals. He has particular expertise in sports related injuries of the foot and ankle including the latest techniques in arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery and cartilage transplantation in the ankle. His other clinical interests include reconstructive surgery for arthritis (including ankle replacement surgery), tendon disorders of the foot and ankle and correction of bunions. His practice includes management of sports injuries in players of first grade National Rugby League, Australian Football League and athletes at the New South Wales Institute of Sport. Dr Lam combines the latest techniques in reconstructive surgery and rapid rehabilitation to allow a rapid and timely return to sport and work. |
Dr Lam is an Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in foot and ankle disorders. He was awarded his Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons after completing his orthopaedic specialist training in Sydney. Dr Lam undertook further foot and ankle training as an Orthoapedic Foot and Ankle Fellow with Drs Myerson and Schon in Baltimore, USA.
