  • News flashFor all patients, MRI scan referrals from Sports Physicians are now eligible for a rebate from Medicare when performed at a rebatable MRI machine. Not all MRI machines are rebatable under the Federal Health regulations and unfortunately GP and Physiotherapist MRI referrals are not eligible for a rebate at these specific machines.

    For new patients after 1st Nov 2010, a referral from a GP will be required.

Sports Physician

Dr_Karen_SooDr Karen Soo is a sports physician and Fellow of the Australasian College of Sports Physicians. She completed her medical degree at the University of NSW with BSc(Med)Hons and MBBS Honours Class I and also has a Masters of Sports Medicine degree from the same university.

She's been involved in the medical care of Australian athletes at the Melbourne Commonwealth Games and at international soccer tournaments overseas and in Australia, and has been team doctor for representative rugby league, rugby union and AFL teams.

Her research has led to papers published in Diabetes Care and International Journal of Sport Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism and she also writes for Australian general practice journals.

Currently she is Medical Provider for Football Federation Australia and NSW Institute of Sport.
