  • News flashFor all patients, MRI scan referrals from Sports Physicians are now eligible for a rebate from Medicare when performed at a rebatable MRI machine. Not all MRI machines are rebatable under the Federal Health regulations and unfortunately GP and Physiotherapist MRI referrals are not eligible for a rebate at these specific machines.

    For new patients after 1st Nov 2010, a referral from a GP will be required.

Dr James Lawrence completed his undergraduate training in the UK, graduating from the University of Nottingham with a Bachelor of Medical Sciences in 2003 and Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery in 2005. After a further four years of experience focusing on the fields of orthopaedics and emergency medicine, in both the UK and Australia, he completed the Australian College of Sports Medicine Part 1 examinations in March 2009, subsequently entering the advanced training program for Sports and Exercise Medicine.

For the last two years he has been club doctor for the Greater Western Sydney Giants AFL team, as well as being involved in rugby league, soccer and rugby union.

His interests include the treatment of both acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries as well as the management of medical problems as they apply to sport and exercise. He has a particular interest in AFL, soccer and snow- and water-sports related injuries.
